As leaders, you know what things are supposed to look like. Even if you’ve never seen it fully lived out this side of heaven, you still have some inherent, innate understanding of the Kingdom of God: how things are supposed to be. And you want to move closer to that reality this year.
You know the WHAT
Your ministries and churches are to make disciples, who make disciples, who make disciples. You want to see all of your people growing as disciples themselves while also participating in the ongoing making of more disciples—because you know none of us can do either without the other.
Both corporately and individually, you want to be a people who listen for the voice of the Holy Spirit, discerning where God is at work, and then joining him there. In this way, you will be part of bringing God’s Kingdom to earth. Toward that end, you and those you lead serve the communities around you and demonstrate the love of Jesus to all those God puts in your path: especially the hurting, the broken, the poor, and the marginalized. In this way, you make disciples of all who are willing. And as you and those you lead do this, your church or ministry increasingly functions as a city on a hill, shining the light of Jesus to the world around you. In the words of Jesus:
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:14-16)
That’s the vision
That’s what you want to be doing and that’s what you want to see happening as a result. Yet if you take a look at where you are—and if you’re honest—your ministry doesn’t yet fully live into that Kingdom reality. You’re not there yet. So how can you intentionalize your efforts so that at the end of 2024 your ministry is closer to where you need to be than you are right now? How can you keep focus throughout the year, especially given all that is going in on the world around us: wars, elections, and a pace of change we can barely keep up with?
You need the HOW
This is where you come face to face with the HOW. How do you get where you want to be? How can you provide the leadership needed to move in that direction? How can you help those you lead break out of some of their old patterns and old ways of thinking? How can you help them stay on track and keep the main thing the main thing?
Survey says….
At Logan Leadership, we have some ideas regarding the hows. But first we want to hear from you.
