Unless you as a leader personally live missionally, no one else will. People are leader-watchers. Whatever they see leaders doing is what they figure is important, so that’s what they will do. The best part is that you don’t actually have to be good at it. The simple fact that you’re going to the effort is what speaks the loudest.

I’ve recently started volunteering at a residential recovery transition center. My hands-on involvement encouraged others to join in. And I know for a fact that some of the people who have joined me in this ministry are much better suited to it than I am. I’m also going on a mission trip to Mexico that one of our people is initiating.

Talking about what others are supposed to be doing sounds pretty hollow unless you dive in and do it yourself. How do you personally need to change? What are you personally going to start doing?
