Check out this great blog entry by JR Rozko on transitioning traditional churches into missional ones. It’s a post from a few years back that I just ran across, but extremely helpful and thought-provoking for those who are embarking on this change.
While avoiding easy answers (that don’t work anyway), JR raises some excellent questions. Reflecting on these questions– and their implications for your particular situation– will point you in some fruitful directions.
Well worth the read!
Thanks for the post. I’ve been pastoring a 62 year-old church and leading this transition for 7 years now. It’s just been in the last year that we have begun to make a missional impact. The Refocusing Process through CRM (Church Resource Ministries) walked us through the process with coaching and a network and was extremely helpful. By God’s grace, we’re out in our community every week now serving the poor and underpriviledged. The kingdom is coming, and I’ve never been more excited about my role as pastor.
Thanks for highlighting this post here Bob. This continues to be a tumultuous affair for so many people. Appreciate the work you do in helping people navigate those waters.
