I’m realizing that some of you out there may not know that I’m currently planting a new church. And those of you that have heard about it through the grapevine have asked me, “So what’s that all about?” Well, I’ve come a long way from knocking on doors in the 1970s. Here’s the short answer to what I’m up to now:

In late 2007, I felt God leading me into a season of transition. Time spent in prayer and reflection resulted in a strategic vision for starting a multiplying network of missional, incarnational house churches that focuses on raising up the next generation of leaders from various ethnic groups.

When I look around at the world, I see the vastly untapped potential of reproduction at the micro level. Grassroots reproduction of leaders can look the same all over the world: living out Christ in our communities, using our gifts to serve others, experiencing God in prayer, growing in obedience and in the Spirit, being the hands and feet of Jesus to the world around us.

In obedience to that vision, I am currently developing ViaCordis, a multi-ethnic missional house church network in the L.A. area. We are beginning to meet and raise up leaders. All leaders, including myself, will be bi-vocational and self-supporting. We are using grassroots leadership development and coaching to multiply at the most basic level possible: individuals and groups. The replication of these smaller units will provide leadership for new house gatherings as we grow.
