Everyone says, “We need to live differently. We need to live more incarnationally, more missionally?” But what does that look like? And how do we actually do it? What are the key indicators that we’re moving in the right direction?
We see the need. Now we need the map. We need a clear, concrete set of guideposts along the way so we know we’re going in the right direction. The Map, as I am currently calling this last series of blog entries, is a charting out of the key components of missional living. It answers the questions, “What does incarnational, missional living look like?” and “What are the next steps I need to take to move toward incarnational, missional living?” The idea of a map is to find out where you are, where you’re going, and how to take the next steps toward getting there.
What I am wondering about now is how this material can best be used. Who can you see using this and how?
Interesting thoughts here Bob! I like the coach approach you always bring to the issues of the day.
Having been a missions leader on the agency side, there is a clear need for helping those in church relations/partnership roles. Church mobilizers like the ACMC and denominational reps are also grappling with this same issue. Seems the mindset of a missional church is spread over a very wide continuum and at the moment, there does not seem to be much consensus on what “missional” means. Helping to map out some of the essential elements and perhaps using a continuum or grid to help churches plot themselves within the movement might prove very valuable. That would play right to your sweetspot, I believe!
