Here is something I try to do when I feel attacked or hurt by another person:
“You have heard the law that says, ‘ Love your neighbor ’ and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven.” Matt 5:43-45
So when somebody hurts me, I pray for God to bless them. As many times as I feel pain or hurt, I pray. Sometimes that’s a lot of times. When God eventually answers that prayer and I’m happy about it, I realize I’m healed.
Praying for your enemies. That’s mind blowing! It’s as revolutionary now as it was when Jesus first said it. But it turns our perspective upside down, which is sometimes precisely what we need.
