“You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others.” — 2 Timothy 2:2 NLT
This photo is a visual of 2 Timothy 2:2. From the man in the red shirt, all the way to the right, is a chain of people who have heard the gospel and passed it on to trustworthy people who then continue to pass it on. They were able to pull these people up from the crowd just out of the people who happened to be there that day. Each person here was raised up as a convert and developed into a pastoral leader and church multiplier.
In the first century, raising up a leader was very closely connected to church planting. In Honduras, that’s precisely how they’re doing it. They win people to Christ, then raise up a leader, who then pastors a church. That leader is expected to continue the multiplication by winning other people and raising up other leaders, who will then go on to plant more churches. So 2 Timothy 2:2 was seen as closely related to church planting. Each one of the people in this extension chain represents a church that was raised up. We created this extension chain to give the people a visual image of what 2 Timothy 2:2 can look like.
