This blog post is part of a series of nine entries, each highlighting one of the nine Journey Guides. Each Journey Guide is a three-week discipleship study. They can be engaged separately or as a series.
No matter what our ministry looks like, we need to find ways to do it alongside others. None of us are complete on our own. We’ll need to look for others who may share our passions or be drawn to similar kinds of ministry areas. They don’t have to be perfect or even all that competent yet… they’re on a journey too. Others whose gifts and skills are different than our own are especially helpful as they complement us and give us a broader perspective. As we work together, we can sharpen each others’ skills: “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another” (Proverbs 27:17). Not only can we support one another as we work together, but we can encourage one another and challenge one another on toward further growth and development.
Ask each other these questions to help one another journey along the way in this area:
- Who can team with you?
- How could you help others grow in their skills? What do you need from others?
- What opportunities do you have to encourage and challenge those who team with you?
