This blog entry is part of a series of reflections on the multi-site model of church. After the whole series has been posted, you can do a search for multi-site within the blog to pull up the whole series.
Consider staffing structure before you hire. What positions will be local (site level) and what positions will be regional (across all sites)? Will there be one worship pastor who does the planning and several local worship staff to carry it out? Will there be one senior pastor overseeing the site pastors or will the senior pastor be the site pastor at one of the sites?
Be forewarned that it very seldom works to have a regional staff person who shapes the vision and makes decisions and then a local responsible for carrying out that vision. However you structure multi-site staffing, be sure that authority and responsibility are not separated from one another.
