Do you want to double or triple your coaching effectiveness? Here’s an important concept I’ve learned while coaching a lot of ministry leaders over the years.
Sometimes I used to spend 75% of the coaching session trying to help the leader identify the key issues to focus on, then we’d only have 10 or 15 minutes left to work on them. Once I began asking leaders to prepare for sessions online, they came in with the key issues already identified. Sometimes we’d need to sharpen or clarify those, but we’d have the majority of the session to work on them. The amount of focused time increased dramatically because the leaders were getting more of a chance to pre-think the important issues. (See video here how it works.)
For the last two years I’ve been developing a more powerful way to increase coaching effectiveness: www.mycoachlog.com. This simple-to-use new resource, significantly easier to use than the one I had previously developed, creates an online structure for tracking your coaching relationships. MyCoachLog allows you to create your own template questions to use, while keeping track of issues you need to follow up on. It not only enhances individual and team coaching relationships, but can be branded for use within your own church or ministry at a reasonable cost.
The use of an online coaching tool helps ministry leaders and their coaches focus the time where it’s really needed—on the joys, challenges, and questions of how to get make real life-ministry optimally effective for the Kingdom. Check out www.mycoachlog.com to take a tour and get started.
