Do you ever have conversations with God where he talks back? I do sometimes. I’m not always certain that it’s God, but these conversations are usually highly instructive for me regardless.
A number of years ago, I was reciting to God all the reasons why I wasn’t best suited to do what he wanted me to do. I gave a good, fairly comprehensive argument and made some excellent points (e.g. I’m an introvert. Why would you ask me to do this?)
I got the distinct sense that God was waiting until I finished my entire speech, then he said, “Yes, You’re absolutely right.” “Well then, why me?” And God laughed. “Bob, I just want to show people that I can do it through people like you.”
Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. — 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT)
