Often as churches we can either get sucked into needs and forget evangelism, or just focus on making disciples without meeting needs. How can we do both strategically without one side taking over the other?
One easy way is to network with groups that are already meeting needs in the community, whether they are Christian or not. This provides you with an existing infrastructure, and the opportunity to serve alongside nonChristians. If there aren’t any such organizations, you can start two teams– one for each side of the spectrum and allow them to strengthen one another.
Find the intersecting points in your community and church. Ask what the community needs and then do that. This can be a way for discerning what God is up to, then joining with others.
