Lately I’ve been thinking through how Jesus made disciples, based on my observations of scripture. I’ll post one insight per day here. You can find all of them by searching “How Jesus made disciples” on my blog.
Jesus took people where they were at and started there.
Seven husbands, demon-possession, Pharisee, natural skeptic– wherever you were, Jesus would meet you there. There were no pre-conditions and you didn’t have to be a “good person.” As my friend Neil Cole is fond of saying, “Bad people make good soil.”
Take away for us: Never count anyone out as a potential disciple.
Biblical passages to consider: John 7:36-50, John 4, John 3, John 1:43-51, Matthew 9:9-13
