Recently a church of about 300 people, almost half of them children, moved from being a church plant to becoming an official self-governing church within its denomination. During the service, the planter/pastor shared some words he received from a church planting consultant that meant a great deal to him. The man told him: “I like that you’re not trying to be cool. No one will write a book about this church. But it will be here when Jesus comes back.”
Planting the church was good work– carefully and faithfully done– and that work has formed a solid foundation for years to come. In fact, they already have a planter apprentice on board, getting ready for the first daughter church.
Just another example of how we can make an eternal difference without anyone ever knowing our names.
